"I became a teacher because when I was in high school, I had a few different things going on and it was a bit of a struggle at times. My teachers were really good people who saw through all of that, made sure I took opportunities and got around resilience and made sure I was playing to my strengths. When I got to the end of year twelve, I thought, "Gosh, what am I going to do?" and I thought that I didn't want to leave the school environment because these people had such great influences on me. So, I thought, "Great, I'll go back and do what they have done for me, for other students." What that's meant is that I try to take the approach that they used with me with our kids, and we're developing a whole person, not just drilling in English, Maths skills and that sort of thing. That's why I really enjoy things outside - the extra curricula things we do like camps and .....seeing the pride the kids have when they get their senior jersey and all of those 'rights of passage'. That gets us to the end of year 12 and when we're saying goodbye to them, those final hugs we give them and we're all beaming with pride and they're beaming with pride. It's always emotional and we're coming up to that time this year.

I just want to make sure that I'm doing my part like it was done for me when I was growing up."
