"I got to apply for Year Coordinator in 2017, leading into 2018 and so I got to take through my first Year 7s here at the school into their Year 11 and 12 senior years. As Year Co, I had never done anything that serious or responsible before as an educator. So that was pretty cool. Over that two years I supported these guys, who were the longest I'd been with the same set of students before. The formal, the mocktail and the graduation ceremony were highlights. My parents surprised me by attending the graduation ceremony to support me going through my stuff, supporting them, going through their stuff. It was a full circle sort of moment. They were proud of me, and I was proud of my kids at that stage. That was a big, big, big moment.
And now shifting from focusing on the students, although still doing that as a teacher, I'm also focusing on training up teachers in the Early Careers Program which is really cool having developed that at this school. That being my baby and getting to look after my peers in their day to make their life easier, is rewarding and something I really like doing."
